Tour de jura 2 – in the footsteps of Lasse, Eskil and Marius

Jonas, Åsa, Sally, Jenny, Melker and myself arrived at beautiful Geneva 21st of May. We spended the first five days in Jura mountain, and the last three in the village Lescheraines near the WOC observation race area. CC joined us in Lescheraines. We had suberb days in France. The results wasnt what we expected, but we got good training, wonderful food and enjoyed Frallan and Chloés company.

Day1:

It started in panic. The luggage didn’t arrive and I got a nuclearbomb-headache. François succeded to get paracetamol from people around, Jonas succeded to buy all the food for the Jura trip in 37 minutes and Åsa and Jenny, Sally and Melker succeded to wait at the airport long enough for the luggage to arrive. So at last the day ended good and we went to bed smiling.

Day2:

Competition with Frallans home club in his home village Lamoura. A great success for the blue white army. Jonas was number two, only 30 seconds after the big Olav Lundanes. I won (still mr 100 %), Jenny took the silver 2 minutes after me, though she complained that she was slow and felt like an old lady. Jura-terrain is exciting, and the views spectacular.

Day3:

Training de Fralla. Difficult. Jonas passed me in the forest. Later he was brought into court and admitted that he did not know if he really took the first three controls. In the evening we made an other training on our way to Lamoura. Just outside Lamoura is a blue house which belongs to Frallan and Chloé. It has a fantastic view over Jura. It has a great garage filled with kevlar, carbon, ultegra, icebug, rossignol and swix. It also has a tremendous amount of cheese and all cheese has to be gone before you’re allowed to roll out of the house. We had a great evening. Åsa won the cheese-race and scoored 18 cheeses. Congratulations!

Day4:

Speed training in Jura. Good barbecue at the evening.

Day5:

Åsas birthday. Barbecue at Frallan as lunch. Frallan showed his skills as an outdoor man. He made a fire outside his blue house and suddenly we all were eating sausages with dijon mustard. Next day was the leaving day. We have had five days with fantastic weather and enyojed Frallans and Chloés super hospitality.

Day6:

The day with the arrival of the great star Christian Christensen. We picked him up in the lost-and-found at Geneva trainstation. He had never been away without Grys company and naturally was bit afraid. Our warm hugs cheered him at once and we were very happy to see his big smile. Evening ended with training at an extremely difficult area.

Day7:

Two more trainings in the extreme area. We tried some of the controls that Marius had at the competition the week before. We realised how good Marius is at orienteering. CC knee seems to have healed miraculously.

Day8:

D-day. Would CC and Jonas run themselves to WOC-tickets?

Well, Jonas got a pretty good race, except from the disgusting control number 13. Controll number 13 took 150 seconds too long time and destroyed a place among the best. CC was a bit slower than Jonas but the absolutely slowest was myself. I had big problem advancing forward in the challenging terrain. The best place of the bluewhite got Jenny Johansson who was number 24.

Day9:

The Thierry Gueorgiou-day. He made a run that was incredible. The nearest runner who wasn’t helped by Thierry in the forest was 12 minutes behind. I was 32 minutes to slow. Jonas made some big mistakes in the beginning and ended up 36 minutes after the great Thierry. With a perfect race I could have been 20 minutes after him.

The terrain was extremely demanding both technically and physically. And extremely beautiful. At the horizont you could see the alps with Mount Blanc, and in the valleys there was turquoise blue lakes.
